Bergen, Norway, June 2011
Bryggen is the most famous district of Bergen. It was built by German merchants who settled there during Middle Age. It is entierly built with wood, and burnt many times, despite it was totally forbidden to light a fire or even a candle in the whole district...
It is now rebuilt as it has ever been, with high and colorful wooden frontages, and very narrow streets, almost covered with stairs and louvers.
This shot was taken behind the main wood buildings, on a little place enclosed between the wooden houses, in the magical evening light of summer solstice at this latitude (60°4' N).
A view of the main frontage of the buildings is available here : [link]
HDR treatment from 3 shots with Photomatix.
